Bloomington Pride MN - Board Member Job Description 

Interested in helping shape the next 5 years of Bloomington Pride MN? We are seeking board members to help us drive our mission and build on our first five years.

Bloomington Pride MN’s mission is to empower, promote, and support the diverse LGBTQ+ community and culture through inclusive events, education, and persistent advocacy. We strive to create a sense of belonging for all, while working tirelessly towards lasting equality and acceptance.

Please review the basic board responsibilities below. You must live in Bloomington, Minnesota, or the surrounding communities within Hennepin County.

A Bloomington Pride MN Board Member is expected to:

  • Read, review, and understand the contents of our Bylaws

  • Read and abide by our conflict of interest and confidentiality policies

  • Commit to Bloomington Pride MN’s mission, vision, and programs

  • Attend 75% of meetings

  • Attend Bloomington Pride MN events, and others as appropriate to their Board position

  • Take initiative and offer to lead on certain tasks, assignments, or committees

  • Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities

  • Attend training and events on non-profits, fundraising, and Pride-related content

  • Suggest possible nominations to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and organization

  • Inform others about, and promote, the organization and its mission, particularly in LGBTQIA2S+ or intersectional spaces.

Time commitments

Depending on the time of year, board members can expect an average of 2 to 10 hours a month preparing for events, attending Board meetings, and helping further the mission of Bloomington Pride MN. This could increase to 15 to 30 hours per month around the time of the annual Pride festival.

This position is unpaid and completely volunteer.
