Not at all! We welcome volunteers of all experience levels. We'll provide training and support to ensure you feel confident in your role. Your enthusiasm and commitment to our community are what matter most.
What if I can only help for a few hours?
Every bit helps! Day-of volunteers can sign up for shifts as short as 4 hours. We understand people have different availability, and we're grateful for whatever time you can give.
Are there age requirements?
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Those under 18 will need parental consent and may have restrictions on certain roles. We encourage families to volunteer together where appropriate!
What happens after I submit the volunteer form?
You'll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. Committee members will be contacted by late January for orientation. Day-of volunteers will receive detailed information including shift assignments, training dates, and what to bring about 2-3 weeks before the festival.
Do I need to identify as LGBTQ+ to volunteer?
No! We welcome allies and supporters from all backgrounds. Our only requirement is that volunteers respect and celebrate the diversity of our community and commit to creating an inclusive, safe environment for all attendees.
Will I receive a volunteer t-shirt or any perks?
Yes! All volunteers receive an official Bloomington Pride volunteer t-shirt, meals during their shift, and our eternal gratitude. Committee members who serve through the planning period also receive a commemorative gift and VIP festival access.
